Selected Works

  • Black and white photo of a large school building with arched windows and trees in front, labeled as 'A PATER HIGH SCHOOL'.

    A. H. Parker High School Oral History

This doctoral research project documents the history of A. H. Parker High School, Birmingham’s first four-year public high school for African American students. Drawing on 17 oral histories and 14 extant oral histories, I explored how culturally relevant care shaped student success between 1950 and 1989.

  • Four women dressed in historical 19th-century attire sitting on steps outdoors, wearing long skirts, blouses, and hats.

    UAB Sterne Library Research Guide

Developed in collaboration with UAB faculty and librarians to explore the history and historiography of African American education. I provided input on the site’s organization and continue to contribute primary and secondary sources that expand its value for scholars, educators, and students.

  • Black and white photograph of a large brick church with gothic windows and an arched entrance, dated January 20, 1949, with leafless trees and other buildings in the background.

    St. Paul UMC Storytelling Project

St. Paul is one of Birmingham’s oldest African American churches and a key site in the city’s civil rights history. As part of a National Park Service-funded project, I conducted archival research and contributed written content for a historical report documenting the church’s activism.
