Researcher & Storyteller
I’m a historian and researcher based in Birmingham, Alabama, specializing in uncovering and documenting the histories of Black institutions, neighborhoods, and communities. My work blends rigorous archival research with a deep respect for lived experience, whether I’m digging through public records, conducting oral history interviews, or helping organizations bring their legacy to light. I believe every institution and community holds a story worth preserving, and I help tell it with clarity, accuracy, and care.
I hold a Ph.D. in Educational Studies in Diverse Populations from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My dissertation explored the culturally relevant practices that shaped Black student success at A.H. Parker High School, Birmingham’s first four-year public high school for African American students. My research draws on oral histories, archival sources, and institutional records to surface stories often overlooked in dominant narratives, especially those rooted in education, faith, and community organizing.
I’ve contributed to church history initiatives, institutional memory projects, and university archival guides. I regularly collaborate with nonprofits, public history initiatives, and grant-funded projects that require deep historical inquiry and narrative development.
Let’s Work Together
If you’re seeking support in telling your organization’s story, whether for a milestone celebration, a grant report, or a community project, I’d love to talk. I bring both scholarly rigor and collaborative flexibility to every engagement.
